2016 Caring Canines Calendar - A Retrospective Milestone - is Here!

Over the past 6 years, we have received hundreds of photo submissions of dogs and other pets that live or work in post-acute/long-term care (PA/LTC) facilities such as nursing homes and assisted living facilities. For our 2016 edition we chose to do a retrospective of the most popular photos of caring animals that enrich the lives of PA/LTC residents.

The staff had a difficult time choosing 14 photos from the many photos that have made this project such a success over the years. Our cover photo comes from Jeffrey Levine, MD, CMD. Parsley, his constant companion, accompanied him when he worked as a medical director of a nursing home in New York City. Dr. Levine noted that “Parsley loved to interact with the residents and I watched him connect with many who suffered from dementia or depression.” He added “Parsley will always be the best dog in the world: loyal, brave, and with a pure heart of love. He brought smiles to my patients and enriched my world more than anyone will ever know.”

Join the AMDA Foundation in honoring the animals in this calendar, and the many others that spread happiness and comfort in PA/LTC facilities. Proceeds support AMDA Foundation programs such as the Futures Program, which brings young physicians together with veterans and experts to learn about careers in post-acute and long-term care (PA/LTC), as well as Quality Improvement Awards that promote projects that enhance care and quality of life for PA/LTC residents.
